About
Alpha Iota Educational Foundation
The Alpha Iota Educational Foundation was created in 1991 by Bruce Pennemped AI ’70, and a few other alumni of Alpha Iota Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity. It is a 501(c)3 foundation whose purpose is to provide scholarships and grants to worthy students at Indiana University. Since 1991, we have accepted tax-deductible contributions, which recently topped $500,000, and whose investment income has provided scholarships & educational grants, which have topped $200,000 to date.
Scholarship awards have ranged from $1,000 to $4,500 each. Our Chapter has remained near the top of all fraternities in overall GPA performance at IU since their return in 2006 and the scholarships provided by the Foundation have done much to encourage that performance.
The current Board of Directors is:
President: John Beaumont ‘99
Secretary: Jeff Milbourn ‘98
Treasurer: Jeremy Gresham
Director: Warren Hoffman ’76
Director: Dan “DJ” Sirota, ’87
The Foundation’s first grant provided for computer equipment for the Alpha Iota library, which allowed students to access Indiana University’s computer network, thereby enhancing their educational experience. Since then it has provided individual academic scholarships to worthy students and below is the list of scholarship winners. These scholarships are funded from investment income on the principle balance of the donations the Foundation has received. Our ability to increase the number of scholarships awarded each year is totally dependent on additional contributions from generous donors. In 2017 we engaged the OmegaFi/Pennington organization to handle the administrative activities of the Foundation. Omega Fi/Pennington is very active with providing financial administrative services to many Greek organizations and we elected to take advantage of their experience and broad range of services. OmegaFi/Pennington will also be administering our Annual Campaign. We encourage you to make an annual donation of $25, $50, $100, or more and would ask that if you are considering a gift to the Foundation, please send a personal check made out to the Alpha Iota Educational Foundation to:

You can also make your donation online using the donate button at the top of this page.
Another way to support the Foundation is to make a bequest while you are making your estate plans. A Codicil can be included in your will providing for a planned gift to be made to the Foundation. A suggested amount would be $10,000 or 10% of the value of your estate. Please use the “Alpha Iota Educational Foundation Inc, an Indiana Corporation” in your documents.
If you have any questions or would like more information about making a bequest to the Foundation, please contact Warren Hoffman by email at warren931@gmail.com or by phone at (803) 530-8367.
Thank you for your consideration and we hope you will support our Foundation.
