Alpha Iota Chapter Scholarship
Alpha Iota Chapter Scholarship
Admiral Ralph Faucet joined Theta Chi Fraternity in 1935 and graduated from the IU Medical School, Bloomington in 1941 after which he immediately joined the US Navy and was deployed to the Pacific to serve in WWII. After a long and distinguished military career as a medical doctor, he retired to private life in San Diego, CA with Elizabeth, his wife of more than 50 years. Upon joining the Chapter Eternal on January 14, 2014, his estate made a $50,000 bequest to the Foundation Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity which established the Alpha Iota Scholarship Fund. The fund will be used to grant academic scholarships to members of Alpha Iota Chapter. The application and selection process is coordinated by the Scholarship Committee of the Alpha Iota Educational Foundation.
In October of 2019 the Alpha Iota Educational Foundation transferred $300,000 of its assets to this fund to start the process of merging the two funds into one. Better investment opportunities, long term preservation, lower operational costs, and increasing administrative requirements drove this strategic decision by the AIEF Board. The AIEF still conducts an Annual Campaign to support continued growth of the corpus and continues to transfer portions of its assets each year to the Alpha Iota Fund for scholarships.
These scholarship awards of $3,000 to $5,000 each are granted annually. Here a list of the scholarship recipients:
